Asking us to look at your documents
If you have disputed an error and it was not fixed, you can ask Madgett Law, LLC to review what happened. There is no charge for the review, and no obligation on either side.
Who we are
Madgett Law, LLC is a Minnesota law firm, and Credit File Corrections is a service of it. David J.S. Madgett, Minnesota Bar No. 390494, is responsible for the content of this site and is licensed to practice in Minnesota only. The same person who wrote the guides you have been reading is the person who would read your request.
The review itself costs nothing. If we take your case, the fee arrangement is set out in a written agreement before any work starts — and in credit reporting cases the fee usually depends on the outcome, which is a conversation we would have with you, in writing, rather than a promise made on a web page.

This is attorney advertising.
You do not have to use us
Nothing requires you to use this firm, or any firm, and we would rather say so plainly than have you assume otherwise. You can take the documents you built here to any lawyer you like, or to none. Some places to start looking on your own:
- The Minnesota State Bar Association lawyer referral service.
- Legal aid organizations, if you meet their income guidelines.
- Any consumer-protection lawyer you find yourself.
You can also do nothing. A wrong item on a credit report is not always worth pursuing, and that is a legitimate choice.
How the request works
You send a short conflict-check form
Your name, how to reach you, and which companies are involved — the credit bureaus and the businesses that reported the disputed items. That is all. Not your Social Security number, not your account numbers, and not your documents.
We need this first because a lawyer cannot look at your situation until we know whether we already represent someone on the other side. If we do, the less we have read about your matter, the better for you.
We check for conflicts
If there is a conflict, we tell you we cannot proceed. We do not tell you anything about who or why — we cannot.
If it is clear, you get a link to send the substance
Only then do you describe what happened and send documents, and only after a screen that shows you exactly what is being transmitted and asks you to authorize it item by item. You can uncheck anything, and you get a receipt.
We read it and respond in writing
We will tell you we need more information, decline, or offer to discuss representation. An offer to discuss representation is still not representation. We reply by email or letter — we will not telephone you about this, and if you tell us to stop contacting you we stop.
What we see
What you type on the request form, and nothing else. Nothing from the rest of your use of this site is attached, because we do not have it — the letter builder runs in your browser and we never receive what you typed into it, there is no analytics vendor, and the site sets no cookies.
There is one thing this page used to say that is no longer true, and it is worth being direct about it. Until September 2026 this site was operated by a separate company, which passed requests to the firm and was told nothing back. The firm now publishes the site itself. Anything you send through this form comes to Madgett Law, LLC — which was always where it was going, but there is no longer an intermediary in between.
